Certificate of Death at Thad Smotherman Theatre at Texas Wesleyan University

Texas Wesleyan University’s Theatre Wesleyan presents the world premiere of Certificate of Death written by Walter Wykes, winner of the Theatre Wesleyan’s 2009 Playmarket Competition and Stage West’s 2010 Texas Playwriting Festival.

The play will be presented in the Thad Smotherman Theatre in the Law Sone Fine Arts Building located on the Texas Wesleyan campus at the corner of Binkley St. and Avenue E. Performances will be November 8-18th. Thursday through Saturday performances will be held at 7:30p.m. with one Sunday performance at 2p.m. on November 18th.

In this original tragi-comedy, Eugene and Stanley are horrified when they learn that a young college student has just been put to death after receiving a “Certificate of Death” in the mail. (It was a Certificate of Death—what else were they to do?) When a postal worker arrives with similar certificates for the two friends, they panic and rush out to clear things up before they too are executed.

Tickets are $8 for general admission, $6 for all Wesleyan faculty and staff, and $4 for all students with ID. Tickets go on sale on Tuesday November 6th.
