Photo Flash: Circle Theatre Preps for KING O' THE MOON
by BWW News Desk - June 16, 2017
The Pazinski family returns to Circle's stage in King O' the Moon by Tom Dudzick, the second play in a trilogy inspired by the author's childhood. Circle produced Dudzick's Over the Tavern in 2005 and The Last Mass at St. Casimir's in 2007.  Ten years after Over the Tavern, this sequel takes place during the rebellious '60's as Apollo 11 is on its voyage to the moon. The Pazinski's come together as their lives seem to fall apart. Prior knowledge of this working-class family is not a prerequisite to appreciate the hilarious and heartfelt end to the three part series at Circle.

BWW Review: MATILDA at Bass Performance Hall
by Kyle Christopher West - June 15, 2017
When the tour of MATILDA premiered in Dallas in September of 2015, the musical was plagued with sound issues, making Tim Minchin's intricately witty score impossible to follow. Fortunately, in its return to town (now at Fort Worth's Bass Hall), the Tony and Olivier Award-winning musical has been revamped to create an easier listening experience, resulting in a perfect evening of theatre for "miracles" of all ages.
BWW Review: EVITA at Theatre Frisco
by Kyle Christopher West - June 15, 2017
Whether or not you're a fan of Andrew Lloyd Webber, you likely know what to expect when approaching any of his famous musicals. From JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR to JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT, his catalog is filled with wordy, pop-sounding scores that often offer a CliffsNotes version of the tales they are retelling. His demanding productions also require strong performers and creative visionaries to effectively communicate his material to the audience. Unfortunately, the black-box style EVITA offered at Frisco Theatre struggles to overcome the show's challenges, despite an earnest community theatre effort.

BWW Review: A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC at THEATRE THREE
by Jared West - June 13, 2017
Opening night at Theatre Three's A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC got off to a slow start, due to the late arrival of one of the theatre technicians. The show itself followed suit, starting off slow, but finding its stride as the evening continued, and ultimately ending in a heartwarming finale. While it may not be everyone's cup of tea, this production is strong and well worth seeing.

Autumn Hurlbert of SOMETHING ROTTEN
by Kyle Christopher West - June 12, 2017
Before appearing in front of the entire world on MTV's 2008 LEGALLY BLONDE casting series, actress Autumn Hurlbert had been honing her stage skills since childhood. And, although she came up second in the televised competition (still receiving a contract in the Broadway production!), Autumn left the show certain of her drive to create art without the need for fame. Now, she is touring with the recent New York hit SOMETHING ROTTEN, and I caught up with her in Houston, where the show made a stop on their way to Dallas' Winspear Opera House.
