Who controls your life's narrative? Just because the chorus says, "That is how things should be," does that mean you must abide it? A present-day version of a classic Greek myth, The Minotaur is a contemporary take on love, honor, and human connection. With refreshing originality and wit, it explores how we break out of history to shape new stories for ourselves.

The Minotaur is set in a timeless present with a quirky yet thoughtful riff on ancient mythology. When Ariadne visits her half-brother, the beastly Minotaur, she and the hero Theseus try to break the shackles of their own destinies, as told by a Greek chorus made up literally of a lawyer, a priest and a rabbi.

"Upon being notified that I would be the next Artistic Director for T3, the whirlwind process of selecting my first season began," says director Jeffrey Schmidt. "Time was short and expectations were high. I quickly began reading everything I could and talking with trusted colleagues."

"After reading Anna Ziegler's play, I knew immediately it had to be in the season," Schmidt continues. "It checks off so many boxes for a theater that is heading into a new era. It's a play based on a classic myth but told in a new way, written by a playwright new to our arts community. The Minotaur is a story about perennial challenges we face as human beings, challenges that can be ugly and complicated but it's told in a beautiful and simple way. It's funny, dark, honest and most importantly, hopeful. Its storytelling at it's best. That's how I want to start my season, by just telling you a new story."

The Minotaur is directed by Theatre Three Artistic Director Jeffrey Schmidt. The cast features Darren McElroy (The Minotaur), Cora Grace Winstead (Ariadne), Kyle Igneczi(Theseus), Randy Pearlman (Priest), David Lugo (Lawyer), and Renee Jones (Rabbi).
