The arts are essential to a vibrant community. The arts connect us, touch us, and empower us to make a positive change in the world around us. Women Inspiring Philanthropy (WIP) also believe in the power of the arts and changing lives. This community of women seek to transform lives in Arlington through high-impact and life-long giving. Theatre Arlington is honored to announce that WIP has recently awarded Theatre Arlington a $50,000 capacity-building grant. This grant will provide the 46 year-old theater with an updated and integrated website that offers mobile site capabilities and self-fulfillment options along with an engaging and informative smartphone app.

Theatre Arlington has been living up to their mission of producing superior, diverse theatrical productions and providing quality arts education on a daily basis; however, people cannot connect to and experience what they don't know about. In this day and age, an organization's first impression is, at times, online. The implementation of a modern website and smartphone app will improve the theater's visibility, producing greater awareness and increased communication to the community. The new website, along with the integrated smartphone app, will be bright, fresh and modern, with more videos and pictures of Theatre Arlington's past and current productions. It will be much more representative of what the theater's patrons actually see onstage or learn in the classroom. More importantly, it will be very user-friendly and easier for patrons and students to purchase tickets, make season ticket reservations, to donate, or to register for classes and events. It will also be vital in the communication with performers and students, giving them a portal or page to interact with production and education staff. The theater will also be able to send push notifications with up-to-the-minute news, discounts and specials for our guests! And who doesn't like to receive a wonderful money-saving entertainment deal in the palm of their hand?! Both the website and smartphone app will be maintained by the theater's own marketing director and staff on a main portal created just for Theatre Arlington.

Interim Executive Producer, Steven D. Morris, staff and board of directors of Theatre Arlington are humbled and honored to receive this $50,000 grant from WIP, empowering them to continue and broaden their mission in this electronic age. This dynamic technical upgrade will enable the theater to present its purpose and mission online as beautifully as the productions on their stage. Morris states, "We are thrilled that WIP has chosen to support the Arts in Arlington in such a powerful way. This generous grant is a wonderful, much needed gift to Theatre Arlington, our patrons and our community."

The women and founders of WIP are firm believers that charity fills an immediate need, whereas philanthropy makes change happen. These dedicated women are always looking to make that change happen and for that, Theatre Arlington is truly grateful.
