The Grand 1894 Opera House kicks off the new year with the award-winning drama, The Other Mozart, on Saturday, January 12 at 8pm. Tickets may be purchased at The Grand's Box Office, 2020 Postoffice Street, by calling 409.765.1894, 800.821.1894, or online at www.thegrand.com .

The Other Mozart is the true, untold story of Nannerl Mozart - sister of Amadeus. Written by Sylvia Milo, this award-winning drama showcases Nannerl as a prodigy, keyboard virtuoso and composer who performed throughout Europe with her brother to equal acclaim. Yet, Nannerl's work and her story faded away... lost to history. Described by The New York Times as "strikingly beautiful," this one-woman drama is based on stories and comments pulled directly from the Mozart family's humorous as well as heartbreaking letters. This production of The Other Mozart not only is a multi-sensual experience that will transport the audience into a world of outsized beauty and delight - but also into a world of overwhelming restrictions and prejudice where - finally - this other Mozart tells her story. The performance is sponsored in part by The Trube Foundation, Galveston Musical Club and William J. and Merri S. Edwards Charitable Gift Fund.

Single tickets are now on sale. Contact The Grand's box office at 409.765.1894, 800.821.1894, or visit The Grand at www.thegrand.com. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, The Grand 1894 Opera House is located at 2020 Postoffice Street in Galveston's historic downtown Cultural Arts District and recognized as "The Official Opera House of the State of Texas." All major credit cards accepted.
