Rover Dramawerks to Hold LOVE IN E FLAT Auditions, 5/21-22

Rover Dramawerks has announced auditions for LOVE IN E FLAT by Norman Krasna, directed by Lisa Devine. The auditions will take place Monday, May 21 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. and  Tuesday, May 22 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. Callbacks will be Wednesday, May 23.

Appointments are required. For an appointment time, email audition09@roverdramawerks.com. Auditions will be at Rover Dramawerks’ office space, 521 J Place, Suite 629, between Plano Parkway and the Bush Turnpike, a half block west of Avenue K.

In this effervescent comedy from the writer of last season’s hit, Sunday in New York, love goes flat when lovers practice to deceive. Howard is a poor medical intern whose girlfriend Amy lives in the apartment right below his. He does love her, but out of imagined jealousy, has planted a listening device in her apartment. When Amy discovers the “bug,” she and her sister invent some spicy conversations and situations that keep Howard on his toes. Can true love triumph over tricks and mistrust?

Roles – 2 women and 4 men:

Howard: A doctor...well...an intern. A traditional man of 1962. Lots of pride and confidence as he is a surgeon. He keeps track of his love interest by listening in on a bug he planted in her apartment. (25-35s)

Amy: Loves Howard...Wants to be his wife...if he would only propose. Smart and crafty as she hatches a plan when she finds the bug in her apartment. (20-30s)

Bea: Amy's Sister who is happily married. But nobody hurts her sister...nobody. (25-35)

Stanley: Bea's husband who runs an air-conditioning business. He is frustrated that the competing company keeps outbidding him for the last 2 contracts. He is not above spying on his employees. (30s)

Cooper: Bug expert. His highly secretive business is making/selling bugs. (Any)

Mitchell: Howard's roommate who is an obstetrician resident who enjoys listening in on the bug in Amy's apartment. He is Howard's confidante. (25-35)

All roles are available.

It is highly recommended that you be familiar with the script before auditioning. Please email audition09@roverdramawerks.com for an appointment, and you will be given access to a script. Prepare a one-minute memorized comedic monologue and be prepared for cold readings from the script. A resume and head shot are requested.
