Rover Dramawerks Announces SOMETHING'S AFOOT 1/24-2/9

By:

Rover Dramawerks will present Something's Afoot at the Courtyard Theater, 1509 H Avenue in Plano. Performances are January 24 through February 9, with shows on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m., with an additional matinee performance on Saturday, February 2 at 2:00 p.m.

In this wonderfully zany musical parody of Agatha Christie mysteries, ten people are stranded in an isolatEd English country house during a raging thunderstorm. One by one they're picked off by fiendishly clever, yet villainously murderous, devices. As the bodies pile up in the library, the survivors frantically race to uncover the identity and motivation of the cunning culprit before they are the victim - all while singing and dancing! The Los Angeles Times calls it "Both a spoof and a tribute to Agatha Christie...played with fine tuned, flamboyantly melodramatic affectations."

The talented ensemble cast includes Phillip Bentham as the black sheep nephew, Andrew Hamilton as the blustering Colonel, Eddy Herring as the over-eager caretaker, Roger Hogarth as the stodgy butler, Katherine Mayer as the sweet young thing, Heather Walker Shin as the grande dame, Danielle Shirar as the saucy maid, Duncan Rogers as the long-time family doctor, Mary Tiner as the energetic amateur detective, and Stephen Wantland as the mysterious handsome stranger.

Mark C. Guerra is director, with musical direction by Lynn Ambrose and choreography by Rebecca McDonald. Phineas Bennett acts as Assistant Director/Stage Manager, with Elizabeth Serafin as Assistant Stage Manager. Set design is by Cindy Ernst, costumes are by Ryan Matthieu Smith, and props are by Ms. McDonald. Jeff Mabray is lighting designer and Randy Wright is sound designer.

Tickets for Something's Afoot are $18.00 on Thursdays and matinee and $22.00 on Fridays and Saturdays. Thursday, January 24 is Preview Night, and all seats are "pay-what-you-can."

Following the performances on Fridays January 25, February 1, and February 8 at 10:30 p.m., Rover Late Night will present The Best (Murders) of One Day Only - four short plays involving murder/mystery/death taken from past One Day Only 24-hour play festivals. Free to anyone attending Something's Afoot that night, otherwise, just $5.00.

Tickets may be ordered online at www.roverdramawerks.com. For more information, please call 972-849-0358.
