Theatre Three presents its 2016-17 curtain raiser, the campy cult classic comedy, PSYCHO BEACH PARTY by Charles Busch, running now through July 10, 2016. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!
Gidget goes berserk in this hilarious and outrageous mash-up of Frankie Avalon, Annette Funicello and the "Three Faces of Eve!" Playwright Charles Busch knows how to stuff a wild bikini with psychotic glee in Psycho Beach Party. The wacky story follows Chicklet Forrest, a teenage tomboy who desperately wants to be part of the surf crowd on Malibu Beach in 1962. One thing getting in her way is her unfortunate tendency towards split personalities. Among them is an elderly radio talk show hostess, a male model named Steve and her most dangerous alter ego, a sexually voracious vixen named Ann Bowman who is obsessed with world domination.
This bawdy romp will feature legendary Dallas illusionist Coy Covington at his Joan Crawford best! Also, unique to this production, playwright and original star Charles Busch is revising his script and providing additional text for Theatre Three in order to make this a Psycho Beach Party like you've never seen before!
PSYCHO BEACH PARTY is directed by Theatre Three Acting Artistic Director Bruce R.
