Mainstage Irving-Las Colinas Presents FIVE WOMEN WEARING THE SAME DRESS

By:

MainStage Irving-Las Colinas continues its 2016-17 Razzle Dazzle season with the female-fueled play, FIVE WOMEN WEARING THE SAME DRESS. The production opens January 20 and runs through February 4 at the Irving Arts Center's Dupree Theater (3333 N. MacArthur Blvd., Irving, TX 75062). All evening performances are at 7:30 p.m., with Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m. Single tickets range from $21-28 and are on sale now at the Irving Arts Center Box Office (972.252.2787/ www.irvingartscenter.com). Ticket discounts are available for seniors and students.

During a lavish wedding reception at a Knoxville, Tennessee estate, five reluctant, identically clad bridesmaids hide out in an upstairs bedroom, determined to avoid the festivities below at all costs. Though their dresses match, their personalities are vastly different. As the afternoon wears on, these five unique women joyously discover a common bond in this wickedly funny, and touching celebration of female friendship. From the eclectic comedic mind of Alan Ball who authored American Beauty, and HBO's "True Blood" and "Six Feet Under." Watch out flower girls...here come the bridesmaids!

Director Dennis Canright says, "FIVE WOMEN WEARING THE SAME DRESS has great dialogue, relationships, and lots of heart. It takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions from laughter to tears. And, in our current political environment, now is the perfect time for us to mount this production because it covers some very hard and real issues that affect women. Each character in this play has, in different ways, suffered at the hands of the men they've loved and trusted. This is the dress they share. And through their individual stories, we relive those moments and witness the strength each one has. These are the stories of countless women in our country; stories that need and should be heard. And to quote a line from Steel Magnolia's, 'Laughter through tears is my favorite emotion!'"

FIVE WOMEN WEARING THE SAME DRESS stars Tammy Partanen (Frances), Nicole Neely (Meredith), Liz J. Millea (Trisha), Mandy Rausch (Georgeanne),Laura Saladino (Mindy), and Hayden Evans (Tripp).

The production team includes Director Dennis Canright, Administrative Producer Mary Bongfeldt, Technical Producer James West, Stage Manager Branson White, Lighting Designer Kyle Harris, Scenic Designer Kevin Brown, Costume Designer Derek Whitener, Sound Designer Andi Allen, Master Carpenter Kris Hampton, and Properties Coordinator Dawn Blasingame.

Tickets to FIVE WOMEN WEARING THE SAME DRESS are on sale now and can be purchased by calling the Irving Arts Center's Box Office at 972.252.2787 or by ordering tickets online at www.irvingartscenter.com.
