Casa Manana Announces Upcoming Show Schedule

Casa Mañana is proud to announce the upcoming show schedule for Casa Mañana Theatre and the Bass Performance Hall.

Casa Mañana's Children's Playhouse presents Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer at Casa Mañana Theatre, through December 21, 2008. Get in the holiday spirit with the world's most famous reindeer. Young, shy Rudolph is laughed at because of his bright red nose. But that glowing nose comes in very handy when Santa needs someone to save Christmas by serving as a beacon to guide his sleigh. Join Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Comet, Cupid and all other reindeer as Rudolph captures their admiration and proves he is a true Christmas hero.

Casa Mañana presents Annie at the Bass Performance Hall, December 23 - 28, 2008. "Spectacular" is the word used again and again to describe this Broadway smash hit musical. Annie, Sandy, Daddy Warbucks, Miss Hannigan, FDR, Rooster and all those adorable orphans return to the Bass Performance Hall just in time for the holidays. Annie is a spunky Depression-era orphan determined to find her parents, who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City orphanage. Winner of 7 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Book and Best Score, Annie features the classic songs "Tomorrow," "It's A Hard Knock Life," "You're Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile," and "A New Deal For Christmas." As long as Annie is around, the sun will always come out tomorrow!

Casa Mañana presents CATS at the Bass Performance Hall, February 3 - 8, 2009. There's no better way to introduce your family to the wonders of live theater than with the magic, the mystery, the memory of CATS. What began as a musical about cats after Andrew Lloyd Webber picked up a book of poems in an airport bookshop has become one of the longest running shows in Broadway's history. Winner of seven Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Book and Best Costumes, CATS features 20 of Andrew Lloyd Webber's timeless melodies, including the hit song, "Memory." Five continents, 26 countries, over eight and a half million audience members and 25 years later, CATS is still America's most loved family musical.

Casa Mañana's Children's Playhouse presents Miss Nelson Is Missing! at Casa Mañana Theatre, February 20 - March 8, 2009. The students in room 207 just won't follow the rules and are not being respectful to their teacher, Miss Nelson. One morning, Miss Nelson is missing from school, which makes her students believe they have succeeded in driving her away. Their celebration quickly ends when the substitute teacher, the mean and scary Miss Viola Swamp, descends upon the classroom. You'll love what happens next in this new musical based upon the popular children's books by Harry Allard and James Marshall.

Featuring all the songs from the movie plus two new numbers, Disney's High School Musical has more energy and fun than a high school pep rally!

Casa Mañana's Children's Playhouse presents Rockin' With Mother Goose at Casa Mañana Theatre, April 3 - 19, 2009. See Jack & Jill, Humpty Dumpty, Little Bo Beep and more of those beloved characters as we present the classic Mother Goose rhymes to upbeat, catchy music. Developed by local artists Brad Jackson and Alex Vorse, this world premiere musical puts a new spin on the classics to make your favorite rhymes come alive.

The Pulitzer Prize winning play, Driving Miss Daisy, is coming to Casa Mañana Theatre, April 21 - 26, 2009. Having recently demolished another car, Daisy Wertham, a sharp-tongued, 72 year old widow, is informed by her son that she must rely on the services of a chauffeur. The person he hires for the job is a thoughtful, unemployed black man, Hoke, whom Miss Daisy immediately regards with disdain. But in a series of absorbing, revealing scenes that span 25 years, the two grow ever closer and more dependent on each other. It's an engaging comedy that captures the blossoming friendship between two very unlikely people.

Casa Mañana's Children's Playhouse presents A Year With Frog And Toad at Casa Mañana Theatre, May 1 - 17, 2009. The Tony Award-nominated adaptation of the beloved Arnold Lobel classic stories where cheery Frog and grumpy Toad leap off the page to the stage just in time for blossoming, bird-chirping spring. With hilarious and tender songs inspired by snazzy jazzy music, this charming musical comedy gloriously suggests that having a very best friend for flying kites, racing sleds and baking cookies, is as good as it gets.

Each year, over 900 students enroll in Casa Mañana's Theatre School program, which is one of the largest acting schools for children and adults in the United States. The Casa Kids is a company of young performers chosen from the Theatre School to perform at after-school programs, nursing homes, hospitals and other community-wide organizations. The Casa Playaz is a performance troupe of professional actors who not only entertain students, but also address the essential arts requirements of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) curriculum requirements that help prepare students for the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS).

The Betty Lynn Buckley Awards, named in honor of Fort Worth's own Tony Award winning actress Betty Lynn Buckley, honors excellence in musical theatre among participating Tarrant County high schools. In the summer, Camp Casa offers an exciting educational experience that blends arts education with the magic of performing on stage at Casa Mañana Theatre. And throughout the school year, Casa Mañana partners with the Fort Worth ISD on the Adopt-A-School Program to provide students from the Applied Learning Academy with hands-on theatre training through scholarships and scenic, technical and production assistantships.
