Discover how the world's most famous reindeer acquires his glowing ruby-red nose and saves Christmas in the spectacular Children's Playhouse musical production of Rudolph, The Red-Nosed Reindeer at Casa Mañana Theatre, November 21 - December 21, 2008.
Rudolph, The Red-Nosed Reindeer is the story of the young, shy reindeer and how he becomes a Christmas hero. Initially Rudolph's glowing nose and lack of self-confidence makes him an outcast among the other reindeer. But when foggy, stormy weather on Christmas Eve makes navigating Santa's sleigh nearly impossible, Rudolph's nose turns him into a major asset. Several new characters join Dasher, Prancer, Comet, Cupid and the other reindeer in this holiday favorite. Rudolph's one true friend is Randolph, a rather enormous elf who is also ostracized by the other North Pole residents because of his size. Dr. Van Elfing, a brilliant German inventor and scientist, joins the traditional cast, as do two elves who serve as sarcastic commentators at the Reindeer Games - Jingle and Jangle. Frosty the Snowman also plays a crucial role in this contemporary retelling of the classic story, which is complete with magical toys that spring to life and "snow" during each performance. The charming score includes Christmas classics such as "Jingle Bells," "Deck the Halls," and "We Wish You a Merry Christmas," mixed with infectious originals like "Find My Way," "Stick Together," and even a reindeer rap.
