The King back for its 10- year anniversary from when it opened the Maverick Theater in 2002. Writer-director and Maverick Theater owner Brian Newell has written the play with a social commentary on "what if" Elvis returned. The King begins with Elvis unfrozen from a cryogenic freeze he secretly under went in 1977. Now Elvis is faced with the challenges of the 21st century-- corporate lawsuits, commercialism, science and technology.

The story is for the avid fan and the Elvis newcomer, "a sampler of all that is Elvis" suitable for all ages. The production has a live band performing over 20 of Elvis' biggest hits and uses a unique combination of rear screen projected sets and video sequences to further the storyline.

The King is written and directed by Brian Newell, The King opened July 20th and closes on September 15th. Performances are 8:00 p.mFri., and Sat., 6:00 p.m. Sun. General admission is $30$15 for students with a current ID.
