The Orange County Playwrights Alliance brings staged readings of five new one-act plays to the ocean-view Newport Theatre Arts Center on Saturday, July 13 - works written by dramatists who have been produced across America. All five of these plays center on people finding themselves in unexpected places or finding truths at the core of their lives.

Waiting for Tomorrow by Bob Bevacqua - A man who wishes he could fast-forward through today's problems to tomorrow gets his wish and is re-birthed into the future. But as he discovers, you must be careful what you wish for - he is transported into a "tomorrow" where there are no todays and only residents like himself. Directed by Eric Modyman (Mysterium).

Bloodletting and Poe by Erica Bennett - In the pitch black before dawn, can Diana find the key to unlock her bloodied heart? A slam poem directed by Dave Barton (Monkey Wrench Collective).

The Back Side of the Moon by Karen Fix Curry - When an artist finds herself in jail, she is must face the truth of who she really is. Directed by Kevin Slay (Chapman University).

The Wedding Gown by John Franceschini - A young woman searches for the perfect wedding dress in a consignment shop where every gown has a history. Directed by Phyllis Gitlin (Orange Coast College).

Migration Patterns by John Lane - Two strangers meet at the railing of a cruise ship at midnight and discuss where they are in life and what might lie ahead. Directed by Jim Marbury (Inland Stage).
