Costa Mesa Playhouse's 51st season continues with Neil Simon's comedy "Rumors," which plays April 8 through May 1, 2016, Fridays-Saturdays at 8pm, Sundays at 2pm. In 1988, Neil Simon was going through difficult times and needed to cheer himself up, so he wrote his first farce, "Rumors."

It is deputy mayor of New York Charley Brock and his wife Myra's 10th anniversary party, but when the first guests arrive they find Myra missing and Charley unconscious and "accidentally" shot in the ear. Hoping to avoid a scandal, they try to cover up what they assume to have happened, but when the rest of the guests arrive rumors abound, confusions and mis-communications mount, and the evening spins off into classic farcical hilarity.

"Rumors" is directed by Kyle Myers and stars Justin Murphy, Christine Cummings, Michael Canas, Emily MacAgy, Robert Moniz, Janet McGregor, Mark Tillman, Victoria Serra, Randy Brownfield and Alexandra Moniz.

The first performance, Friday, April 8, is a preview for which all seats are $18. Saturday, April 9 is the official opening night Gala, with catered reception, for which tickets are $22 general and $20 for seniors & students. For all other performance, tickets are $20 and $18. Groups of 10 or more are $13 each. Reservations can be made at www.costamesaplayhouse.com or by calling 949-650-5269. The playhouse is located at 661 Hamilton Street in Costa Mesa.
