Town Players of New Canaan is a theatre in New Canaan.
Horror is one of the most versatile genres in performing arts. Connecticut Theatre Company chose the minimalist route, which created a fantastical atmosphere rather than the gruesome route that horror/slasher films take today. …
On Saturday, October 10th, I had the pleasure of seeing yet another quality show performed by the Castle Craig Players at the Almira F. Stephan Memorial Playhouse in Meriden, CT, MOON OVER BUFFALO, a comedy written by Ken Ludwig. Director Ian Galligan helps bring out the best in this cast! Comedy dr…
In modern theater, it often feels like a risk to keep it simple and just let the cast take a script and run with it, but for the Town Players of Newtown, that decision is well justified and led to the creation of a delightfully entertaining production of The Importance of Being Earnest.…
On Saturday, October 3rd, I had the pleasure of seeing a phenomenal performance of one of my absolute favorite musicals of all-time, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, performed by Fairfield Center Stage at City Wide Church in Bridgeport, CT. Director Joel Fenster, Choreographer Lindsay Johnson, and Music Direc…
On Friday, October 2nd, I had the pleasure of my first experience at Crystal Theatre in Norwalk, CT, seeing a phenomenal original musical called FRECKLE! This musical comedy takes some unique and unconventional stylistic choices, all of which work perfectly! With book, music, and lyrics written by M…
Most people have never heard of Comedian Harmonists, a group of six men who impressed the world with their sophisticated and harmonious voices from 1928 to 1934, during the rise of Nazi Germany. This was epic because three of the men were Jewish and one Christian was married to a Jewish woman. …
'Having a blast” is the best way to describe the vibes inside the auditorium at TheatreWorks New Milford, and that is thanks in large part to the director, Diana Canova, who was the spearhead of this delightful evening at the theater!…
On Saturday, September 26th, I had the pleasure of seeing another first-rate musical phenomenally performed at Center Stage Theatre in Shelton, CT, THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD, which is based on an unfinished novel by Charles Dickens. This unfinished novel was made into a play in 1985 with book, musi…
From the direction, to the set, to the cast; the Brookfield Theatre of the Arts’ production of Hamill’s Dracula blends classic horror with modern feminist themes in an entertaining celebration of storytelling.…
Sometimes you get a perfect storm of circumstances that turns the ordinary into the extraordinary. Whether by design or by luck, the Sherman Players have taken advantage of this perfect storm with their production of 'Inherit the Wind'.…

Wacky re-telling of the story of Cinderella through the classic British humor of a Panto. Not to be confused with white-faced mutes! Audience interaction. Loads of fun for kids of all ages! Come play with us.
A seemingly quiet Victorian country home on the marshes of the Thames estuary is actually the backdrop for murder and madness in this show that has been described as a perfect example of psychological melodrama. This is gothic suspense at its best!
A darling of a play! Arrogant, self-centered and sharp tongued Jason Carmichael, successful co-author of Broadway romantic comedies, is facing two momentous events: he is about to marry a society belle and his collaborator is retiring. Enter mousy Phoebe Craddock upending...
One of the greatest psychological thrillers of all time... made popular from the movie starring Ingrid Bergman. It tells the story of Mr. Manningham, a suavely handsome man, who is slowly driving his gentle, devoted wife Bella to the brink of insanity with seemingly overwhelming...
This charming tale touches the heart – with lots of laughs along the way! It is hard enough for Mr. Popper, a simple painter, to support himself and his family. The addition of twelve penguins makes it impossible to make ends meet – until Mr. Popper has a splendid idea. He will...
This is the hilarious story of a community theater desperately trying to put on a play despite maddening interference from a haughty authoress who keeps revising the script. Although they only have four days left, this dedicated group of amateurs is committed to the adage “the...
The Town Players of New Canaan are bringing classic American drama, Of Mice and Men, to the Powerhouse Theatre in Waveny Park. John Steinbeck's tale of two drifters poignantly captures the loneliness and yearnings of their workaday world.
