Windham Theatre Guild Opens PLAZA SUITE, 3/16

By:

The Windham Theatre Guild continues their 2011-2012 season with Plaza Suite by Neil Simon, opening Friday, March 16th at the Burton Leavitt Theater.

One of Neil Simon’s most popular and celebrated plays, Tony Award winning Plaza Suite ran for over 1,000 performances and was turned into a highly successful film starring Walter Matthau. Follow the "misadventures of three very different couples as they face crucial moments in their lives. A couple celebrating their anniversary with a return to their honeymoon suite, a Hollywood producer who arranges a rendezvous with his old high school flame and a manic couple hosting an expensive wedding reception for their daughter who refuses to come out of the bathroom, tie together in three hilarious acts. Neil Simon at his best: witty, clever and relentlessly funny."

Directing this classic is Michelle Hettinger. Michelle is a home-schooling mom from Mansfield Center, who has been active with the Windham Theater Guild for 6 years.  She has been enjoyed on stage as the character "Gertrude" in the staged reading of Blessed Event  by local playwright, Jim Hetrick; also A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum,  and she directed  for Kitchen Witches  in 2008 and The Movie Game in 2010 for the Windham Theater Guild.  In 2009 she directed 1984 for the Stafford Springs Community Theater.

Plaza Suite runs  March 16, 17, 23, 24, 30 & 31 at 8:00pm, Thursday March 29th at 7:30pm, and Sunday Matinee March 25th  at 2:00pm at the Burton Leavitt Theatre, 779 Main Street, Willimantic. Ticket prices are $16 for Adults, $13 for Students/Seniors, and $9 for children under 12. All UCONN, ECSU & QVCC students pay the discounted price of $10.  Group discounts are also available.
