With professional talent from Broadway as well as leading up-and-coming actors from across the region, The Wilton Playshop will present in concert form, the New England premiere and staged reading of the full two-act production of Greenbrier Ghost on Friday, October 23 at 8pm and Saturday, October 24th at 7pm.

The concert version of this award-winning, original musical is based on the true story of a young bride's suspicious death in 1897 in Greenbrier County, WV; and the subsequent trial for her murder-the only time when testimony from a ghost was admitted in trial-making this the perfect pre-Halloween production. It is being directed by Scott Brill of Shelton.

Clay Zambo, music director of Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Wilton and Norwalk resident, began developing the story of the Greenbrier Ghost into a musical in 2004; librettist Susan Murray joined the project in 2007. Greenbrier Ghost was recently named the winner of Academy for New Musical Theater's Search for New Musicals.

"Having the opportunity to bring an original musical to our audience as it undergoes changes and refinement through the production process is what community theater is all about," said Zelie Pforzheimer, President of The Wilton Playshop. "Clay and Susan have delivered a terrific story with memorable music and lyrics - we are thrilled to be part of its development and evolution."

The cast of the production includes equity performers Doug Shapiro and David Anderson, NY actress and Wilton native Kate Kozlowski and such well-known local talent as Kate Canary, Jorie Janeway, Danielle De Crette, Zelie Pforzheimer, Tom, Janice and Christopher Dehn, Michael Armstrong Barr, Bob Filipowich, Sharon Anderson, Anna De Masi, Sarah Lee, Natalie Michaels, Betty McCready, Donna Savage, John Wilson and Cami Shore among others.

Greenbrier Ghost is a benefit production for The Playshop. The Saturday evening performance will conclude with a question and answer session and reception with Clay Zambo and director Scott Brill.
