The intergenerational cast of the Universalist Players is staging the award-winning musical comedy "Disney's The Aristocats KIDS" on Friday, April 1 at 7pm and Saturday, April 2 and Sunday, April 3, 2016 at 1:30 pm at the Universalist Church, 433 Fern Street in West Hartford, CT.

Based on the beloved 1970s animated film, "Disney's The Aristocats KIDS" takes place in the heart of Paris. It's the story of a kind and eccentric millionairess, who wills her entire estate to Duchess, her high-society cat, and her three little kittens. When the greedy, bumbling butler pulls off the ultimate catnap caper, it's up to the rough-and-tumble alley cat, Thomas O'Malley, and his band of swingin' jazz cats to save the day.

"Disney's The Aristocats KIDS" is directed by West Hartford-resident Gretchen Fountain. "'The Aristocats' is really a story about cooperation and cross-cultural understanding. The music is jazzy and catchy, and it's a wonderful show for children of all ages," said Fountain. "And, in today's world of racial tension, it reinforces an important message that animals of all species (including humans) can learn from each other and work together toward a common goal."

The Universalist Players is the intergenerational theatre company from the Universalist Church in West Hartford, who has staged a family-friendly theatre production for the past 33 years.

"Disney's The Aristocats KIDS" is presented through Music Theatre International of New York with music and lyrics by Richard M. Sherman, Robert B. Sherman, Al Rinker, Floyd Huddleston and Bryan Louiselle; and adapted from a book by Michael Bernard.
