Tickets Now On Sale for Long Wharf Theatre’s 2012-13 Season, Featuring Judith Ivey, Kathleen Turner and More

Single tickets for Long Wharf Theatre's 2012-13 season will go on sale Wednesday, August 1.

Tickets are $40-$70 and can be purchased by calling the box office at 203-787-4282 or visiting www.longwharf.org.

The season will begin with the world premiere of Satchmo at the Waldorf, written by Terry Teachout, known for his groundbreaking biography of Louis Armstrong. The show will take place from October 3 through November 4, 2012.

Tony and Academy Award nominee Kathleen Turner returns to Long Wharf Theatre in The Killing of Sister George, a bawdy witty romp. This show, the first on Long Wharf Theatre's newly renovated Claire Tow Theatre in the C. Newton Schenck III Mainstage, will run from November 28 through December 23, 2012.

Long Wharf Theatre's Associate Artistic Director Eric Ting will direct the world premiere of January Joiner, A Weight Loss Horror Comedy, in January. We visit a weight loss boot camp where the campers struggle with relationships, losing weight and, ultimately, themselves. The show runs from January 9 through February 10, 2013.

Tony Award-winner Judith Ivey returns to Long Wharf Theatre in Sam Shepard's Curse of the Starving Class in February. Curse marks the first time one of Shepard's plays has been produced at Long Wharf Theatre. The show will run from February 13 through March 10, 2013.

The quest for power is at the heart of the world premiere of William Mastrosimone's Ride the Tiger, taking place in late March, directed by Edelstein. Mastrosimone, best known for his play and subsequent film Extremities, spent extensive time with the singer Frank Sinatra. It was through that research that he came upon his dramatic interpretation of the events leading up to the election of John F. Kennedy as president. The show will take place from March 27-April 21, 2013.

The 2012-13 season will conclude with a play that Artistic Director Gordon Edelstein feels is one of the most important written on race in the past decade: Clybourne Park by Bruce Norris. The play has recently been honored with both a Pulitzer Prize and a Tony Award. The show takes place from May 8 to June 2, 2013.
