Are You 14 to 25 Years Old with a Passion for Theater?

Explore the world of professional Shakespeare theater this summer! You will be fully immersed in Shakespeare on the Sound's production of Othello, playing to over 15,000 people this June and July.

Shakespeare on the Sound's second annual Apprentice Company will give theater students and developing artists the opportunity to work with some of the country's leading theater artists on our summer production of Othello and beyond. This apprentice program will provide a deeply meaningful and educational opportunity for growth and development to selected high school and college age youth with a demonstrated interest in theater, and will give them direct access to national leaders in the field.

The apprentice company will consist of up to twelve selected applicants of diverse backgrounds, ages 14 to 25, with a passion for and commitment to the theater, and especially those who are interested in pursuing theater careers. Apprentices will work under the leadership of Artistic Director Joanna Settle, and apprentice to, learn from and explore with our master artists. Apprentice positions will be established partly in response to the interests and talents of promising applicants - 2009 apprenticeships were in Acting, Theater Management, Set Design, Costume Design and Photography, Education and Directing, Dramaturgy, Stage Management and Leadership. Acting apprentices in 2010 will participate in the main stage production of Othello and/or the pre-show performances.

Application deadline is January 31.
