OVID'S METAMORPHOSES Opens at Playhouse on Park, 6/14
Beginning with a preview on June 14th, Ovid's Metamorphoses is coming to The Playhouse on Park stage.
Based on Ovid's classic, narrative poem, the Mary Zimmerman play tells the transformation myths of several Greek and Roman Gods using contemporary language and familiar characters such as King Midas and his golden touch. "Metamorphoses" explores the meaning of being alive through moments of change and the expression of universal emotions.
Directed by Playhouse on Park co-founder and co-artistic director, Sean Harris (NYC's Hamlet, Dinner With Friends, Much Ado About Nothing), this popular adaptation has been hailed by the New York Times for its "imagination" and ability to reduce even the most "callous New Yorkers to sob". With a large pool serving as the major focal point of the epic story's set and action, this is a theatrical experience that cannot be missed.
Three Connecticut natives, West Hartford's David Goldman and Harrison Greene, and Melissa Kaufman of Branford, join Eric Whitten, TRoy Peckham, Justin Sease, Ashley C. Williams, Amelia Campbell, Quinn Warren, and Jillian Rorrer to complete the young and talented ensemble of this ambitious project.
The play opens officially on Friday June 15th, 2012 and will be preceded by a complimentary wine and cheese reception for patrons to enjoy from 7:00pm to 8:00pm. Furthermore, the Sunday June 17th, 2012 matinee will be followed by a Talk Back with the cast and director.
