Casting Announced For Lauren Gunderson's THE REVOLUTIONISTS

Playhouse on Park has cast Lauren Gunderson's The Revolutionists, a grand and dream-tweaked comedy about art and activism, feminism and terrorism, violence and legacy, and changing the world. This provocative play runs February 20-March 10; opening night, including a complimentary wine and cheese reception, is set for February 22.

Starring in this production are: Erin Roché (Ensemble Studio Theatre: ASKING FOR TROUBLE; Barrington Stage Company: KUNSTLER; The Old Globe: ALL'S WELL THAT ENDS WELL, OTHELLO; Actors Theatre of Louisville: Q HEIST!) as Marianne Angelle, Jennifer Holcombe (Chautauqua Theater Company: Rosalind AS YOU LIKE IT, Grace INTO THE BREECHES; PCPA: Fanny Dashwood SENSE AND SENSIBILITY; Flat Rock Playhouse: Alice SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS) as Marie Antoinette, Olivia Jampol (Theatre Row: GEMINI; The Flea Theater: AJAX, WOLF IN THE RIVER; American Repertory Theater MARAT/SADE, LYSISTRATA) as Charlotte Corday, and Rebecca Hart (Theaterworks Hartford: Helena, MIDSUMMER A PLAY WITH SONGS (CT Critics Circle Nomination); The Public: Jessie, SWEAT national tour; Brooklyn Academy Of Music: RIMBAUD IN NY; 2017 co-recipient of the NY Innovative Theatre Award: Best Original Music, and an Associate Artist with The Civilians) as Olympe de Gouges. Directing this production is Sarah Hartmann, a New York based director, actor, and writer. She is currently the Associate Director of Anastasia for both Broadway and the First National Tour. Assistant directing credits include: A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder (2nd Nat Tour); Hamlet, PrivateLives, Kiss Me, Kate (dir. Darko Tresnjak, Hartford Stage/The Old Globe), Matthew Lopez; World Premiere of Reverberation (Hartford Stage).

These four badass women lose their heads in The Revolutionists, an irreverent, girl-powered comedy set during the French Revolution's Reign of Terror. Playwright Olympe de Gouges, assassin Charlotte Corday, former queen (and fan of ribbons) Marie Antoinette, and Haitian rebel Marianne Angelle hang out, murder Marat, and try to beat back the extremist insanity in 1793 Paris.

On March 7, there will be a Young Professionals Night Out pre-show reception, with the young professionals rate of $25. On Friday, March 8, guests of the show will be treated to a Cocktails and Conversation post-show talkback and reception featuring actors and local women who have made a difference in our community as artists, entrepreneurs, and advocates. A specially priced Tuesday matinee is also scheduled for this show on February 26 at 2pm, with all tickets priced at $22.50, all seats reserved. Tickets are now on sale, and range from $30-$40. Student, Senior and Let's Go Arts discounts are available. Previews are on February 20 and 21, with all tickets at $17.50.
