Aaron Caruso to Perform One Night at Long Wharf May 16

By:

Italian-American singer Aaron Caruso will perform a one night only concert at Long Wharf Theatre's Mainstage Monday, May 16 at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $20 and can be purchased by calling 203-787-4282.

In conjunction with its production of Italian American Reconciliation, by John Patrick Shanley, Long Wharf Theatre continues its exploration of aspects of Italian American culture by presenting Caruso, melding the sensibilities of great Neapolitan performers with the style of the Rat Pack. According to John Hoglund of Cabaret Scenes, Caruso "embodies a vanishing species: the good natured, good looking, pull-out all the stops showman from the same mold that spawned Dean Martin and Danny Kaye."

His lively, entertaining show takes audiences on a romantic journey to Italy with such favorites as "O Sole Mio" and "Mamma." Often ending with Bocelli's Con Te Partiro this show is filled with spontaneous standing ovations from beginning to end.

Caruso, a New Haven resident, was chosen by film producer Sonny Grosso and 15-time Grammy winner, Phil Ramone to sing the role of Mario Lanza in a new musical currently being developed.

He has recently performed to a sold-out audience at Carnegie Hall in a tribute to Mario Lanza and on the Red Carpet event for NBC at the Columbus Day Parade in New York City. He sang to a crowd of 10,000 people in Lawrence, MA at the "Feast of the 3 Saints". He also performed at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City and many performing arts centers, festivals and concert venues across the United States. Caruso has headlined hundreds of Italian Festivals across the country from San Diego to Boston and everything in between.

Caruso has been singing for 20 years. He majored in vocal performance at the University of Michigan and also studied in Italy and New York City with Maestro Veccia from the Rome Opera house. He also has lectured on Dante Alighieri's contributions to modern day music at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield and specializes in Classic Neapolitan music.
