Entitled A FUGITIVE’S LESSON, Cesear’s Forum will present two absurdist one-act plays that intertwine sexual, ethical and legal responsibility to nonsensical ends while examining elements of societal indoctrination gone awry: Eugene Ionesco’s THE LESSON, translated by Donald M. Allen, and Ugo Betti’s THE FUGITIVE (abridged) translated by G.H. McWilliam. Both Ionesco and Betti were post-World War II European playwrights whose new wave brand of modern drama garnered the designation Theatre of the Absurd. The plays, as presented, run parallel to each other but their themes coalesce.
A FUGITIVE’S LESSON, two comedic absurdist plays: September 29th through October 28th. Friday and Saturday at 8 pm. Two Sunday Matinees at 3 pm; October 8th & 15th. Kennedy’s Theatre, Playhouse Square, 1501 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio. Call 216-241-6000 or visit
