Cleveland Stage Alliance Presents ELECTRIC MAYHEM MAYHEM: A MUSICAL TRIBUTE TO JIM HENSON”

By:

Cleveland Stage Alliance (CSA) presents "Electric Mayhem: A Musical Tribute to Jim Henson," at the Bop Stop, now part of the Cleveland Music Settlement, on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 8 PM.

Creator of The Muppets, Sesame Street and more, Henson defined an era that continues to inspire generations young and old. Some of Northeast Ohio's top talent celebrates his contributions on the 25th anniversary of his death through memorable and beloved songs made famous by Henson's colorful characters...and just in time for the premiere of the new Muppet Show debuting on ABC this fall!

"Electric Mayhem: A Musical Tribute to Jim Henson" is the second offering in CSA's new concert series that celebrates various beloved aspects of pop culture in a festive evening of song. Following the current trend set in New York by such popular series' as "Broadway Sings," "54 Sings" and others, "CSA Presents..." will utilize local talent to perform material outside of the musical theater canon, with a theatrical flair!

The concert is produced by CSA founder Eric Thomas Fancher and local actor/director Joanna May Hunkins, and music directed by Lawrence Wallace. Fancher has appeared onstage at Ensemble Theatre, Lakeland Civic Theatre, Blank Canvas Theatre and most recently at Cain Park. Hunkins is the associate director of The Musical Theater Project and just directed the critically acclaimed production of Godspell at Cain Park. Lawrence has music directed at Near West Theatre, Blank Canvas Theatre and True North Cultural Arts.

Singers appearing in "Electric Mayhem: A Musical Tribute to Jim Henson" include Christopher Aldrich (Young Frankenstein at Beck Center), Ian Atwood (Guys and Dolls at Olmsted Performing Arts), Sarah Clare (Director of The Wizard of Oz at Beck Center), Dan Folino (American Idiot at Beck Center), Trey Gilpin (Twelfth Night at Ensemble Theatre), Jeff Glover (August: Osage County at Lakeland Civic Theatre), Jesse Markowitz (All Shook Up at Mercury Theatre Company), Jade McGee (Godspell at Cain Park), Amber Michalak (Hairspray at The Mad Factory), Kate Michalski (Triassic Park at Blank Canvas Theatre), Benjamin Reid (Hair at Cain Park), Tina Stump (Menopause The Musical at Playhouse Square) and Eugene Sumlin (Violet at Lakeland Civic Theatre). Fancher and Hunkins will also perform and co-host the evening.

The Bop Stop is located at 2920 Detroit Ave on the near west side of Cleveland and is owned and operated by the Cleveland Music Settlement. General admission is $15. All bar proceeds go toward music scholarships. Tickets are available through the Bop Stop website at www.TheMusicSettlement.org.
