Best-Selling Humorist David Sedaris Entertains at Playhouse Square's KeyBank State Theatre Image

America & NPR's pre-eminent humorist, David Sedaris, is the literary world's rock star! He's admittedly self-absorbed and neurotic, prefers to refer to himself as a "lucky typist" rather than a "writer," but the validity in David Sedaris' success is in how others describe him: "this century's answer to Mark Twain," "Garrison Keillor's evil twin," "comic literature's answer to The Rolling Stones," and New York Magazine calls Sedaris "the most brilliantly witty New Yorker since Dorothy Parker."

The best-selling author, playwright, National Public Radio star, GRAMMY nominee and Santaland Diaries"retired elf" entertains at Playhouse Square's KeyBank State Theatre Fri., Oct. 27 at 8 pm. Tickets are on sale at playhousesquare.org, 216-241-6000 & the Ticket Office, priced at $50, $40, $30 & $10. Adding to his best-sellers like Me Talk Pretty One Day and Dress Your Family in Corduroy, Sedaris' latest book is Finding: Diaries (1977-2002).

By way of his sundry books and steady stream of humorous commentaries on NPR shows like "Morning Edition" and "This American Life," Sedaris has been elevated to comic icon among the young, hip American literati. His acidic, often absurd outlook affirms his reputation as a comic force of twisted nature. No matter his subject, the man is exhaustingly funny. He is also a little crazy...no, make that a lot crazy: a few years back he passed on an offer to write for Seinfeld. He had been sought out because he mines some of the same comic territory as Jerry Seinfeld.
