Announces Cast of SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD
Independence Community Theater presents Jason Robert Brown's "Songs for a New World"
Independence Community Theater will present the musical "Songs for a New World", Friday and Saturday at 8PM, May 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20 and 2PM, Sunday May 14, 2017.
Songs for a New World features music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown and was first performed in New York City in 1995. It has been described as an abstract musical, a series of songs connected by theme rather than narrative. It is a song cycle that takes the audience on a journey of life told though passionate, uplifting and soul wrenching music.
During the two-act musical Brown transports the audience to at 1492 Spanish sailing ship, a flag maker in 1775 colonial America, to a present-day young man in the Bronx who dreams of being a basketball star.
"It's about one moment," the composer-lyricist of the hit musicals Parade and The Last Five Years has said of this musical revue. "It's about hitting the wall and having to make a choice."
Dawn Sniadak-Yamokoski directs this six person, beautiful show, that is stunningly musical directed by Bryan Bird.
The $12.00 tickets can be reserved by calling 216-447-0443. The show will be performed at Independence Old Town Hall located at 6652 Brecksville Road, Independence, Ohio.
