University of New Haven: College of Arts & Sciences: Division of Performing Arts (Theater Arts & Music)The Division of Performing Arts at the University of New Haven invites applications for a full- time Lecturer of Technical Theater, whose primary responsibilities will be teaching courses in technical theater and serving as the Technical Director for The Bucknall Theater. We seek an experienced Technical Director who also has college-level teaching experience. The ideal candidate will be an effective communicator with strong organizational skills and a collaborative approach to problem solving. Depending on the candidate?s expertise, this lecturer will have an opportunity to teach courses such as Scenography or Lighting Design as well as develop new courses in areas such as Production Management. In addition to teaching, the Technical Director will provide support for theater productions, concerts, commemorations, panel discussions and other Performing Arts events. We seek someone who is committed to mentoring students with diverse interests in theatrical and musical production. One-year appointment with the possibility of renewal.QualificationsRequired: MFA or equivalent in Technical Direction, Set Design, Lighting Design, or related field Technical Direction experience College teaching experience A strong background in scenery construction and stagecraft techniques Demonstrated commitment to mentoring of students Preferred Qualifications: Evidence of ability to teach in a secondary area that may include: Stage Management, Lighting, Sound, and/or Projections Application InstructionsAll information on candidates will be kept confidential.
