New Edgecliff Theatre Presents THE SANTALAND DIARIES 12/3-19

By:

Crumpet the Elf and Mrs. Jocelyn Dunbar return once again as New Edgecliff Theatre (NET) presents its annual holiday offering, David Sedaris' THE SANTALAND DIARIES.

Adapted by Joe Mantello, the first act chronicles the real-life observations of renowned NPR commentator and memoirist Sedaris as he encounters crazed Santas, obnoxious parents, and queasy children while working his first New York job - as one of Santa's Elves in the very nexus of commercial Christmas and Holiday Cheer, Macy's Santaland.

Act II presents SEASON'S GREETINGS, wherein Mrs. Jocelyn Dunbar delivers a horrifying yet witheringly funny holiday letter from the dark side of the suburban mindscape. Desperate to hang onto her traditions, this slightly-too-cheery homemaker reveals to her family and friends some rather disturbing details of her past year.

Mary Jo Beresford, director of New Edgecliff's record-setting first production back in 2001, returns to work with Mr. Justin Terry, who will create the latest incarnations of the disgruntled elf and the pathological housewife. A Corbin, KY native, Mr. Terry is a student at Northern Kentucky University pursuing a BFA in Acting. He was most recently seen locally as Rodriguez in the Acclaim award-winning production of New Stage Collective's Take Me Out. He has spent the past three summers in Manteo, NC performing as a dancer in The Lost Colony.

New Edgecliff Artistic Director Greg Procaccino says, "We know there are lots of people out there looking for not-so-average holiday entertainment. We hope they'll join us for THE SANTALAND DIARIES - it truly is the holiday play for the rest of us."
