Cincinnati Playhouse's Summer Theatre Day Camp to Kick Off 6/15

By:

As the school year winds down, the assignment for parents to find fun, fulfilling summer activities for their children comes due. The Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park's popular Summer Theatre Day Camp will provide young theatre fans with six entertaining, educational one-week sessions starting June 15 and continuing through July 31.

Camp at Cincinnati's Tony Award-winning theatre consists of one-week, full-day sessions from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for children entering grades three through 12. For campers entering grades one and two, Primary Creative Dramatics Camp is offered in six one-week, half-day morning sessions from 9 a.m. to noon. In addition to the camp sessions, the Playhouse offers before and after care for parents who need additional schedule flexibility.

Due to the popularity of last summer's theatre fundamentals theme, all sessions this year will introduce campers to a variety of theatre skills. Each session includes acting; additional topics will range from Shakespeare, circus training and musical theatre to playmaking, stage combat and improvisation. Classes and instructors will vary each session, so those interested in participating in multiple camps will have a different experience each week.

All Playhouse camp classes are taught by the city's best theatre professionals, who bring years of experience and a strong focus in education to their students. The instructors are trained to adjust the class to challenge all students' skills and talents. All experience levels are welcome.

Register now for the best prices and for best availability. The Early Bird Special is $285 per full-day camp session and $175 per Primary Creative Dramatics session. Beginning June 1, each full-day camp session will cost $350 and each Primary Creative Dramatics session will cost $225.

Before Care (8-9 a.m.) and After Care (4:30-5:30 p.m.) may be added for $30 each per week. (There is no after care for Primary Creative Dramatics sessions.) Register online at www.cincyplay.com or call the Playhouse Box Office at 513-421-3888.

The Playhouse is supported by the generosity of the community contributors to the ArtsWave campaign.
The Ohio Arts Council helps fund the Playhouse with state tax dollars to encourage economic growth, educational excellence and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans.
