THE PRINCESS AND THE PEA
July 31 – August 30

AT
THE MARRIOTT THEATRE FOR YOUNG AUDIENCES

The Princess and the Pea opens July 31 and run through August 30 at The Marriott Theatre for Young Audiences, 10 Marriott Drive.  This whimsical production features a contemporary twist on the classic Hans Christian Andersen fairytale, and is directed and choreographed by Marriott Theatre for Young Audiences favorite, Rachel Rockwell (Wizard of Oz, Seussical), with musical direction by Roberta Duchak.

When Prince Wellington David is forced into choosing a bride by his mother, Queen Evermean, all of the princesses in the kingdom of Ipslonia line up to pass the "Princess Test." But when the Prince falls in love with a commoner named Ruth instead of a "true" princess, trouble begins to brew! To satisfy the Queen, Ruth must prove her worth by passing her own special "Princess Test," which requires her to sleep on a giant stack of mattresses piled on top of a single pea. If she endures a sleepless night due to the pea – which she has no knowledge of - she must be delicate enough to be a real princess. A small pea alone will determine whether the Prince and his true love will be able to live happily ever after.

An imaginative story for all ages, The Princess and the Pea is a celebration of finding everlasting love and being true to oneself no matter what the circumstances. The show's book and lyrics are by Rick Boynton, with music by Marc Robin, with additional lyrics by Curt Dale Clark and Marc Robin.

The Princess and the Pea
