The Color Purple to play Cadillac Palace Theatre April 2007

The Producers of THE COLOR PURPLE are proud to announce that the National Tour of the Broadway smash hit musical will premiere April 2007 at Chicago's Cadillac Palace Theatre in association with Broadway In Chicago. This long-run engagement will have an initial block of tickets on sale through June 2007, and the Chicago run will be followed by engagements in other major cities across the country.

As on Broadway, the production will be directed by Chicago native Gary Griffin. The original design team of John Lee Beatty (sets), Paul Tazewell (costumes), Brian MacDevitt (lighting) and Jon Weston (sound) will also be reunited for the tour.

THE COLOR PURPLE opened on Broadway on December 1, 2005, at the Broadway Theatre. With a libretto by Pulitzer Prize-winner Marsha Norman, music and lyrics by Grammy Award-winning composers/lyricists Brenda Russell, Allee Willis and Stephen Bray and choreography by Donald Byrd.

THE COLOR PURPLE is produced on Broadway by Oprah Winfrey, Scott Sanders, Roy Furman, Quincy Jones, Creative Battery, Anna Fantaci & Cheryl Lachowicz, Independent Presenters Network, Lowy Family Group, Stephanie McClelland, Gary Winnick, Jan Kallish, Nederlander Presentations, Inc., Bob and Harvey Weinstein, Andrew Asnes & Adam Zotovich and Todd Johnson.
