Photo Flash: First Look at Walkabout Theater's THE WILD at Steppenwolf

By:

Performances of Steppenwolf Theatre Company's fifth annual Garage Rep kicked off last month, featuring Walkabout Theater Company's world-premiere production of The Wild and more. These innovative storefront companies perform in rotating repertory for ten weeks through April 20, 2013 (press performances are March 8 and 9, 2014). Performances are scheduled Wednesday through Sunday in the Garage Theater (1624 N Halsted St). BroadwayWorld has a first look at The Wild below!

Walkabout Theater Company presents The Wild, directed by Thom Pasculli with dramaturgy by Kendra Miller and created with Nigel Brown, McCambridge Dowd-Whipple, Al Evangelista, Cooper Forsman, Katie Mazzini, Dana Murphy and Paul Scudder.

Rhythmic, muscular and full of risk, The Wild is the world premiere of a devised laboratory theater performance based on the words of playwright Charles Mee, Dionysian rituals and a pulsing mix of global folk performance. Walkabout Theatre Company examines what happens to people when institutions crumble and deities fail to show up.

The creative team for The Wild includes Stephanie Pasculli (scenic design), Paul Scudder and ensemble (costume design), Delia Baseman(costume advisor), Sarah Hughey (lighting design), Cooper Forsman and Andrew Rovner (sound design), Mikhail Fiksel (sound consultant), Al Evangelista and ensemble (choreography), Glenn Potter (production manager), Christopher Kristant (technical director), Dina Klahn(production stage manager) and Katie Mazzini (rehearsal stage manager).

Since 1999, Walkabout Theater Company (Kendra Miller, Artistic Director; Thom Pasculli, Associate Artistic Director; Lauren Sivak, Managing Director) has performed and produced new site-specific and experimental work in Chicago, challenging traditional theatrical models of production, performance, narrative and story. Through active exploration of the theatrical form and the architecture in which theater is created, Walkabout seeks to deepen the connection between the artist and the Chicago community.
