It's The Glass Menagerie meets Anna Nicole, in an episode of Hoarders! New American Folks Theatre is pleased to open its 2016 season with the Midwest premiere of the dark, twisted comedy TRASH by Johnny Drago, directed by Derek Van Barham, playing April 9 - May 15, 2016 at The Den Theatre, 1333 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago. Tickets go on sale Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at www.newamericanfolktheatre.org. The press opening is Monday, April 11 at 7:30 pm.

TRASH will feature New American Folk Theatre Company Members Carrie Campana, Jamal Howard, Caitlin Jackson, Kirk Jackson and Anthony Whitaker.

TRASH is the story of faded B-movie star Jinx Malibu, who has spent the last decade or so popping pills and hiding out in her wheelchair bound mother's, secluded, garbage-filled double-wide with her two children, older son Loogie and younger daughter Smudge. When a handsome stranger arrives from Hollywood, could it be her big chance at a comeback?

"Playwright Johnny Drago was introduced through a mutual friend and we are thrilled to get to bring Trash to Chicago," comments Co-Artistic Director Anthony Whitaker. "It's the perfect depiction of the pain brought on by finding fame - and then trying to hold onto it. Sick and twisted - with a heart of gold. Johnny and I both love and feel guilty watching reruns of The Anna Nicole Show - so it was clear Trash was a perfect fit for our company."

The production team for TRASH includes: Clint Greene (scenic design), Kate Setzer Kamphausen (costume design), Cody Ryan (lighting design) and Julie Leghorn (stage manager).
