2010 winner of six Tony Awards, including Best Play, RED by John Logan will be directed by Steve Scott, Artistic Associate, Goodman Theatre at the Redtwist Theatre. Experience the artistic process as master expressionist, Mark Rothko, creates his legendary works, while his brilliance and ego collide with the ambitions of a talented young apprentice who is ready to push the master aside. Patrons will be so close to the action that they may feel the spatters of paint from the brush to the canvas as they witness the intensity of every brush stroke. Master abstract expressionist painter, Mark Rothko, is at the top of his game, landing the biggest commission in the history of modern art: murals for the world-famous Four Seasons restaurant in New York City. What follows is an electrifying dissection of a brilliant mind as it navigates the myriad challenges of the artistic process, an assertive young assistant, and the artist's own ego-all at the apex of Rothko's career. This vivid, Tony Award-winning play tackles the mystery: what is art...and how is it created?Brian Parry (Mark Rothko, American painter), Aaron Kirby (Ken, his new assistant), Jimmy Binns (u/s Mark Rothko), and Coy Benning Wentworth (u/s Ken).
