The south suburbs of Chicago maintain a solid position on the map when it comes to Live Theatre and entertainment. Positioned to continue attracting patrons from across the Chicago area, the Artists Walk Theatre remains the only professional theatre company in the south suburbs. Located in Flossmoor, they will soon return to the stage, bringing to its audience, The Fantasticks, the world's longest-running musical.

The Fantasticks is a funny and romantic musical about a boy, a girl, two fathers and a wall. The narrator asks the audience to use their imagination and follow him into a world of moonlight and magic. The boy and girl fall in love, grow apart, and finally find their way back to each other after realizing the truth in those famed words "without a hurt, the heart is hollow."

The famous score, which includes the classics Try to Remember, They Were You and Soon It's Gonna Rain, is as timeless as the story itself. The cast includes New York Actor Jonathan D. Mesisca as The Narrator El Gallo, Megan Murray as The Girl, Ian Emerson as The Boy, David Besky as The Girl's Father, Don Tieri as The Boy's Father, Ed Voci as The Old Actor, Juan Munoz Terrazas as The Man Who Dies and Carlyse Owens as The Mute.

Artists Walk Theatre last fall successfully launched its inaugural production, Lost in Yonkers. The Fantasticks, is being directed by David Boettcher, who also serves on the Board of Directors for Artists Walk Theatre. Artists Walk Theatre productions are performed at the Flossmoor Community House, located at 747 Hutchison Rd in Flossmoor.

The Fantasticks runs from September 9-18. Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased in advance online athttp://artistswalktheatre.brownpapertickets.com/, or by calling (815) 277-1083. For further information, please visit the website at http://www.artistswalktheatre.com/.
