Christian Casper and Gretchen McGinty will lead as Macbeth and Lady Macbeth when the Charlotte Shakespeare Festival presents Macbeth from August 15 to 25 at the Booth Playhouse in Founder's Hall, 130 North Tryon Street. Charlotte Shakespeare's Artistic Director Elise Wilkinson will direct the show. Shows begin at 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays, 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday evenings, 2 p.m. for the Saturday matinee and 3 p.m. for the Sunday matinee. Stay after the Saturday matinee for an interactive workshop with Christian Casper. Macbeth is appropriate for ages 12 and up.

All performances and workshops are free, but donations are encouraged ($5 minimum suggested). Seating is first-come, first-served and opens 45 minutes prior to curtain. However, advance donors can reserve seats for a minimum $25 donation. Local musicians, performing artists, storytellers and poets will entertain audiences beginning 45 minutes prior to each performance.

Casper most recently worked with Charlotte Shakespeare as the director of this summer's Wild West staging of Taming of the Shrew. McGinty played Cordelia in the Charlotte Shakespeare's 2011 production of King Lear and Grace in the company's 2012 production of Opus.
