The Blumenthal Performing Arts Center's Education Institute is partnering with the Carolinas Asian Chamber of Commerce Charlotte and the Mecklenburg County Veterans Services Office (a Division of Community Support Services Office) to offer an informative educational event and prepare you for the public performance of SOUTH PACIFIC coming to the Belk Theater on November 10th - 15th, 2009.

Join us as we uncover the real stories of love and war, prejudice and courage in the South Pacific. Lina Waty, Vice President of the Carolinas Asian Chamber of Commerce will moderate a panel discussion and participatory dialogue with key experts and specialists:

• Adelia Fallar, Past President of the Filipino American Community of the Carolinas

• Dr. Troy Feay, Professor of History at Belmont Abbey College

• Robbynson H. Suy, President of the Indonesian American Association of the Carolinas

• Dr. James Hogue, Professor of History at the University of North Carolina Charlotte

These experts and specialists will highlight the turmoil in the South Pacific during and post-WWII. They will also discuss the influence the war and the American service people had on the region and its people. By the end of the activity participants will have deeper insights for appreciating and enjoying the performance of SOUTH PACIFIC.
