The Laramie Project is a documentary-style play created by Moisés Kaufman and the Tectonic Theater Project, based on over 200 interviews conducted following the 1998 murder of Matthew Shepard, a gay university student, in Laramie, Wyoming. The play portrays a community grappling with hate-fueled violence, homophobia, and social reflection, highlighting both deep prejudice and profound compassion. The cast of nine local actors includes Jonathan Pate, Tom Ferguson, Spencer Dawson, Aimee McMasters, Earth O. Phoenix, David Skeele, Christopher Buettner, Tracy Mullen Cosker, and Kylie Tripp, with seven making their Fort Salem Theater debut. The production is directed by Michael Nichols-Pate and produced by Courtnie Harrington.
