Versa-Style Street Dance Company, founded by Jackie "Miss Funk" Lopez and Leigh "Breeze-Lee" Foaad, performs their mixed-repertory production as part of the ESL Rochester Fringe Festival. The show pays homage to street dance styles such as Waacking, Popping, and House, as well as Afro-Latin styles including Salsa and West African dance. Rooted Rhythms draws from the company's most popular works over the last 20 years, representing the diverse experiences of BIPOC communities in Los Angeles. Presenter Missy Pfohl Smith highlights the significance of bringing this internationally celebrated LA-based company to Rochester, home to a burgeoning hip-hop and krumping community.
