Geva's 2014 Fielding Studio Series Continues with I AND YOU, 4/10-27

Geva Theatre Center's 2014 Fielding Studio Series continues with the National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere of I and You by Lauren Gunderson. This production comes to Geva from the Olney Theatre in Maryland and is directed by Eleanor Holdridge. I and You begins performances on April 10 and runs in the Fielding Nextstage through April 27.

They could not be more different: Anthony - the optimistic high school basketball star and Caroline, the chronically-ill, cranky pessimist. As they cram to finish their class presentation, they learn not only how to work together, but how much they have in common.

Lauren Gunderson is the co-bookwriter for the musical, The Happy Elf with music and lyrics by Harry Connick, Jr. Her plays Silent Sky and Emilie: Le Marquise Du Chatelet Defends Her Life Tonight (published by Samuel French) were presented at South Coast Repertory's Pacific Playwrights Festival. Her play, Exit, Pursued by a Bear is currently enjoying productions in multiple cities around the country this year (published by Playscripts), and her youth musical, The Amazing Adventures of Dr. Wonderful (And Her Dog!) premiered at the Kennedy Center in October. Her plays have been produced Off-Broadway (Parts They Call Deep), Off-Off Broadway (Sus Manos), and regionally (including Class, The Van Gogh Cafe, Leap, Background and A Short History of Nearly Everything). She has been commissioned by Marin Theatre Company and has also developed plays with Primary Stages and Second Stage in NYC, O'Neill Playwrights Conference, Magic Theatre in San Francisco, Kitchen Dog Theatre in Dallas, Actors Express and Horizon Theatre in Atlanta, JAW/West in Portland, among others. Her work has received national praise and awards including the Berrilla Kerr Award for American Theatre, Young Playwright's Award, Eric Bentley New Play Award, Essential Theatre Prize, and many others including a TFI Sloan Science Script Award for her screenplay Grand Unification. She teaches Arts Activism and has spoken internationally about the intersection of science and theatre, as well as writes for The Huffington Post, The Wall Street Journal, and tweets @LalaTellsAStory. She holds an M.F.A. in Dramatic Writing from NYU Tisch and is a Reynolds Fellow in Social Entrepreneurship.

I and You was commissioned and developed at South Coast Repertory and was part of their Pacific Playwrights Festival in April 2012. This production of I and You is part of a National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere. I and You was a finalist for the Susan Smith Blackburn Award and it was recently announced as a finalist for the prestigious Steinberg/ACTA New American Play Award.

Thaddeus Fitzpatrick plays Anthony and Rachael Tice plays Caroline. Mr. Fitzpatrick recently participated in the Lincoln Center Education reading of Autumn's Harvest and the Harold Clurman Theatre's production of Alcestis Ascending. Ms. Tice appeared at the Alley Theatre in Pulling Teeth and The Seagull at the Alley Theatre and made her film debut in Slider which will be released in theatres imminently. Both are making their Geva Theatre Center debuts in I and You.

I and You is directed by Eleanor Holdridge. The creative team includes David Conway (Scenic Design), Ivania Stack (Costume Design), Nancy Shertler (Lighting Designer) and Matthew Nielson (Sound Design).
