Chenango River Theatre's 2013 Season Announced

By:

All four main stage shows in Chenango River Theatre's 2013 season, (Season Sponsor-Empire Toyota of Oneonta), will be regional premieres - the first time each of these noteworthy shows has been produced in the area. Season tickets start as low as $60 for the area's only non-profit theatre company to feature professional actors in every show.

Opening the season from May 24 - June 16 is Tom Dudzick's Miracle on South Division Street (co-produced by NBT Bank and The Daniels Family). A long 2012 off-Broadway run established this new hit comedy about a Catholic family living in a fading working class neighborhood of Buffalo, still tending the family heirloom - a 20' shrine to the Blessed Mother that commemorates the day in 1942 that the Blessed Virgin Mary materialized in their grandfather's barbershop.

Running June 28 - July 21 is Fully Committed by Becky Mode (co-produced by Pete & Karen Raymond and by Bonnie's Restaurant & Ruth Young, Assoc. Broker, Century 21 Sbarra & Wells). The NY Times called it "an immensely entertaining, scaldingly funny play about the bad behavior that good food can inspire". It's a comic tale about the harried reservation clerk at New York's hottest four-star restaurant and the hordes of people who make his job impossible. 40 characters appear in this comic masterpiece - one actor brings all 40 to life singlehandedly in a comic tour de' force. No one who has ever dined out or who has ever held a restaurant job should miss this show.
From Aug. 8 - Sept. 1, CRT will be one of the first theatres in the country to present the new version of Ring of Fire, The Music of Johnny Cash (co-produced by The Raymond Corporation). Just updated this spring at Milwaukee Rep Theatre - a company well known for creating highly successful "jukebox musicals" - the show features the iconic songbook of Johnny Cash in a unique musical revue about love and faith, struggle and success, rowdiness and redemption, and home and family. More than 30 classic hits - including "I Walk The Line", "Folsom Prison Blues" and "Ring of Fire" paint a musical portrait of The Man in Black that promises to be a foot-stompin', crowd-pleasin' salute to a uniquely American legend.
Closing the season with a limited 3 week run from Sept. 27 - Oct. 13 is Bruce Graham's new play The Outgoing Tide. CRT will be one of the first theatres in the country to present this new drama which hums with crackling humor and powerful emotion. The 2012 off-Broadway run starring Michael Learned (The Waltons) drew the attention of theatres nationwide scrambling to get the rights for this piece. Set over the course of one late fall weekend on Chesapeake Bay, it's a love story and a story of a family's attempt to find common ground before the tide goes out that was called 'Deeply moving and cathartically funny - the play beautifully blends humor and pathos in a tightly constructed tale that will no doubt hit close to home for many!" New York Post.
Season tickets start as low as $60 for all 4 shows and are on sale now at www.chenangorivertheatre.org. Season brochures will be mailed out in early April - to request a season brochure, call 656-8499 and leave your name, address and phone number or email info@chenangorivertheatre.org.

Chenango River Theatre's intimate, air-conditioned 99 seat theatre is just 15 minutes north of Binghamton at 991 State Highway 12, Greene, NY. CRT is the greater Binghamton area's only professional non-profit theatre company under annual contract with Actors' Equity Association, the national association for professional actors and stage managers in the United States - the same actors you see on television, in film and at major theatres across the country.
