Southeastern Summer Theatre Institute

Southeastern Summer Theatre Institute (SSTI) is a pre-professional summer musical theatre and technical theatre training program on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, founded in 2007. It is open by application to current 8th through 12th graders and keeps sessions small, with a roughly 3:1 student-to-teacher ratio. The musical theatre track devotes its first three weeks to developing a fully produced musical helmed by a director from a major university program or Broadway, then shifts to college-level coursework and one-on-one college audition preparation with visiting professors. SSTI Tech students design, construct and run a professional production while learning to document and present their work for collegiate interviews. A shorter SSTI Tech: On Deck week offers a condensed, hands-on introduction to technical theatre. The program reports 100% college theatre acceptance since 2014.

Open by application to all current 8th-12th graders. Small sessions with a 3:1 student-to-teacher ratio. Housing is on-campus with private bedrooms.
