Kates Camp for Kids

Kate's Camp for Kids is a state-licensed summer arts day camp run by the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center (The Kate) in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. It serves children ages 6 to 10, and 5-year-olds who have completed kindergarten. Each one-week session runs Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 3 PM and combines theater, music, dance and visual art around a weekly theme, culminating in a Friday afternoon performance for family and friends that unifies all the art forms. Campers also attend a professional workshop or show each week. Activities such as writing short stories and learning choreography rotate so that returning campers encounter fresh material. Before-care and after-care are available for an added fee. Financial aid is offered through a scholarship fund supported by grants and individual contributions, and the camp recruits counselors-in-training ages 14 and 15.

Each summer session runs Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 3 PM, with a performance Friday at 2:15 PM. Beforecare 8-9 AM and aftercare 3-5 PM are available. Campers must have completed kindergarten.
