Review: Fidelity Theatrical's SELECTIONS FROM GODSPELL at Don't Tell Mama ImageFidelity Theatricals returned to Don’t Tell Mama on April 17 with Selections from Godspell, a vibrant and heartfelt concert celebrating the beloved score. Directed by Juan Ayala with music direction by Kaleb Wilkening, the evening leaned into the joy, community, and sincerity that define the show. The intimate setting allowed the music to feel immediate and personal, creating a space where the performers could fully connect with both the material and the audience.

The cast featured Juan Ayala, Kenny Wang, Jacqueline Mangini, Tirza Meuljic, Emily Steindl, Abbi Stephenson, Sedona Valdez, Jake Browning, Bill Fitzpatrick, and Cristian Castro. Abbi Stephenson delivered a standout performance with “Bless the Lord,” the show’s high energy, gospel driven number that calls for both vocal power and rhythmic precision. She brought strong control and infectious energy, fully leaning into the song’s celebratory spirit. Her presence was confident and engaging, making the number feel alive and joyful while drawing the audience in from the very first note.

Tirza Meuljic brought warmth and sincerity to “By My Side,” a gentle and emotional ballad centered on loyalty, friendship, and unwavering support. Her vocals were clear and expressive, and she approached the song with a grounded honesty that made it feel intimate and genuine. It was one of the night’s most emotionally connected moments, allowing the simplicity of the song to really land.

Bill Fitzpatrick gave a charming and steady performance of “All Good Gifts,” a reflective piece that focuses on gratitude and the beauty of simple blessings. His vocals carried a natural warmth, and he let the song unfold with ease, never overcomplicating its message. The performance felt calm and sincere, offering a quiet moment of reflection within the larger energy of the show.Review: Fidelity Theatrical's SELECTIONS FROM GODSPELL at Don't Tell Mama Image

Emily Steindl closed out the standout moments with “Day by Day,” the show’s most recognizable anthem centered on hope, faith, and living in the present. Her vocals were light and clear, and she brought an openness that made the message feel genuine and uplifting. It was a bright and heartfelt performance that captured the optimism at the core of the song.

By the end of the night, Selections from Godspell felt like a true celebration of community, faith, and joy. Fidelity Theatricals once again created a space where the music could shine, allowing the performers to connect through storytelling and shared energy. It was a simple yet meaningful evening that stayed true to the spirit of the show while leaving the audience with a sense of warmth and togetherness.
