BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUB's Clinton Roane to Make Solo Cabaret Debut in NYC
LET'S BE HONEST plays Chelsea Table + Stage, directed by Christina Sajous with music direction by John Bronston.
After 15 years away from the Broadway stage, actor and writer Clinton Roane (Broadway's Buena Vista Social Club, The Scottsboro Boys, and the Hollywood Bowl's Jesus Christ Superstar) returns home to New York City, making his cabaret debut with Let's Be Honest - a raw and revealing evening of music and storytelling at Chelsea Table + Stage on Sunday, July 26th at 7pm. Doors open at 6pm.
Featuring beloved melodies from Sam Cooke to Cynthia Erivo, alongside a few original songs, Clinton takes audiences on a journey through the highs and lows he's experienced in the entertainment industry, the resilience its demanded, and the personal reckoning of discovering one's true self beyond the spotlight. Honest, heartfelt, and deeply human, this cabaret is both a homecoming and a declaration.
The evening is directed by Christina Sajous (co-director of Broadway's A Wonderful World and seen on stage in Broadway productions of Othello, Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark, Baby It's You, SpongeBob SquarePants, The Who's Tommy, American Idiot, and Holler If You Hear Me) with music direction by John Bronston (Broadway's Tina: The Tina Turner Musical and The Public Theatre's The Harder They Come) and will feature the premiere a special duet with Broadway's Hailee Kaleem Wright (Moulin Rouge, Six, Paradise Square) from Clinton's original animated musical feature film.
