At Least it's Pink is a delight- a raunchy, hilarious, surprisingly touching, potty-mouthed delight.

Bridget Everett is a big girl; loud and proud, brassy and sassy. When she speaks, she's got the breathlessly earnest delivery of a young Judy Garland, and when she sings, she's a breathtaking cross between Linda Perry and Molly Shannon.  She's a force of nature, and glorious to behold.

The show is in a loose cabaret format, though it has a through-line that elevates it to more than it might intially seem.

The original music and lyrics are written by Kenny Mellman (one half of Kiki and Herb) and Bridget Everett, and are highly enjoyable. Much of the humor comes from the contrast between the beautiful music and the gleefully trashy lyrics and subject matter. My favorites were "I'm Happy When...", and "Maybe it's Time".

The show was written by Bridget Everett, Michael Patrick King (of Sex and the City), and Kenny Mellman; the script, which is presented as autobiography, is both funny and touching (but mainly funny), as the humor bolsters such unlikely topics as waiting tables, abortions, absent parents, cheating men, existential despair, and drunken slutty karaoke.

I should warn that the show is not for everyone; I was sitting next to a couple of stodgy folks who weren't into it. So if you don't like crude language and situations, fat girls in their underwear, or if you don't have a sense of humor, this may not be your cup of tea.

On the other hand, if you DO have a trashy sense of humor, everyone involved in the show does a wonderful job, and it's totally worth seeing.
