Samantha Bee, host of Full Frontal, recently faced controversy after calling Ivanka Trump the "C-Word" while on the air. On Wednesday's show, Bee apologized for her actions.

"I crossed the line. I regret it and I do apologize for it," she said. "The problem is, a lot of women have heard that word at the worst time in their lives, and don't want it reclaimed. I don't want to inflict more pain on them. I want this show to be challenging and to be honest."

As previously reported, at the Television Academy Honors last week, where Bee received a "social change" award, she addressed the subject, saying that she and her team "spent the day wrestling with the repercussions of one bad word, when we all should have spent the day incensed that as a nation we are wrenching children from their parents and treating people legally seeking asylum as criminals."

Bee is a Canadian-American comedian, writer, producer, political commentator, actress, and television host. She rose to fame as a correspondent on THE DAILY SHOW with Jon Stewart, where she became the longest-serving regular correspondent. In 2015, she departed the show after 12 years to start her own show, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee.

Bee became a US citizen in 2014, while retaining her Canadian citizenship. In 2017, Time named her one of THE 100 most influential people in the world on their annual Time 100 list.
