The second season of the American television drama series EMPIRE was ordered on January 17, 2015. It will begin airing on September 23, 2015, in the United States on Fox. This season will be produced by 20th Century FOX Television, in association with Imagine Entertainment, Lee Daniels Entertainment, Danny Strong Productions and Little Chicken Inc. The showrunners for this season are Ilene Chaiken, Danny Strong and Lee Daniels. The season will air in the Wednesday 9:00 pm timeslot, the same slot as the previous season. It will consist of 18 episodes.
