Despite yesterday's reports that troubled actor Shia Labeouf entered a rehabilitation facility following his disruptive night at Broadway's Cabaret, his rep Melissa Kates told USA TODAY in a statement that the story is simply not true.

"Contrary to previous erroneous reports, Shia LaBeouf has not checked into a rehabilitation facility but he is voluntarily receiving treatment for alcohol addiction," Kates says in the statement. "He understands that these recent actions are a symptom of a larger health problem and he has taken the first of many necessary steps towards recovery."

LaBeouf was escorted out of Roundabout's production ofCabaret at Studio 54 last Thursday evening during the show's intermission in handcuffs. The 28-year-old was reportedly smoking inside the theater and engaging in other disruptive behavior, police said. When he was asked to leave, he refused and then threatened the officers and people on the sidewalk outside. He was charged with two counts of disorderly conduct and one count of criminal trespassing.

LaBeouf was released from the holding cell at Midtown Community Court around 10 a.m. last Friday morning after pleading 'not guilty' to the charges. He is due back in court on July 24th
